10th August 2016 - Suicide section update

The Suicide section of the ScotPHO website has been updated with the suicide figures for 2015. There were 672 suicides registered in Scotland in 2015, compared to 696 in 2014, indicating that the declining trend in suicide rates in recent years appears to be continuing. Suicide rates are strongly related to deprivation level, and in 2011-15 the rate in the most deprived areas was three times higher than in the least deprived. This inequality has, however, decreased in absolute and relative terms over the last decade. The section includes details of the number and rate of suicides for Scotland, NHS board areas, local authority areas and for the UK overall.

See the Publication Summary (215Kb) document published on the ISD Scotland website (a lead partner in the ScotPHO collaboration) for further details.
