(Please note: This commentary on our obesity report was kindly provided by Professor Mike Lean, with contributions from Professor Naveed Sattar, Dr Catherine Hankey and Hazel Ross. ScotPHO is not responsible for the content of the commentary and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within it. The commentary discusses the measurement and definition of obesity and future strategies for tackling the problem. ScotPHO would like to point out that in the final section of our report we argued not for more information on the relative contribution of diet and physical activity, but for better information on the broader social determinants of obesity. We hope that this commentary will stimulate further debate, and we welcome further contributions.)
