Health Protection Scotland release laboratory data on a quarterly basis for HIV, and annually for a range of other STIs (including chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhoea).

The Britain-wide National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles (NATSAL) has been conducted three times (1990-1, 2000-1, 2010-12). A report based on the Scottish data from the 2010-12 survey was published in 2015. NATSAL-4 is due to commence between 2022 and 2023.
