Health and life expectancies: useful links
The ONS publishes data for the UK and its constituent countries on life expectancy (LE), healthy life expectancy (HLE), disability-free life expectancy (DFLE) and health inequalities.
The ONS also provide information about definitions and statistical releases related to life expectancy and their different uses.
NRS publishes the LE & HLE estimates for Scotland's administrative areas (councils and NHS boards) and special areas (urban/rural and deprivation). Data tables include breakdowns of LE figures for Scottish Parliamentary Constituency areas and Scottish Council Areas Split by Deprivation.
The statistics.gov.scot open data platform includes a selection of the LE and HLE estimates produced by NRS.
ScotPHO produce and publish LE estimates for intermediate zones, Health and Social Care partnerships and their localities in our Profiles Tool.
The WHO European Health for All (HfA) Database publishes various data related to LE, HLE and DFLE for the 53 member states of the WHO European Region, including the UK (figures are not available for Scotland only).
The Scottish government Long-term monitoring of health inequalities report and National Care Service: health and demographic profile also include descriptions of recent trends in both LE and HLE.
