Deaths: international comparisons
Scotland has one of the highest rates of death (mortality) in Western Europe. Detailed international comparisons of all-cause and cause-specific mortality are available on this site in Scottish mortality in a European context 1950-2000.
The International data sources table on this site includes some further resources enabling international mortality comparisons.
Mortality data for different parts of the UK can be accessed through the Office for National Statistics (ONS) website (see People, population and community - Births, deaths and marriages and Health and social care).
Please note: If you require the most up-to-date data available, please check the data sources directly as new data may have been published since these data pages were last updated. Although we endeavour to ensure that the data pages are kept up-to-date, there may be a time lag between new data being published and the relevant ScotPHO web pages being updated.
