ScotPHO Public Health Intelligence Training Course
In March 2011, ScotPHO successfully delivered a pilot Public Health Intelligence Training Course to staff from NHS boards, national bodies, charities and local authorities. The course was delivered in two parts. The first part was for 'data users' and contained material aimed at staff who are required to interpret and act upon public health data. The second part was for 'data producers' and contained material aimed primarily at analytical staff. This part of the course gave an overview of various analytical techniques relevant to public health and useful data sources.
The four day course was attended by 40 delegates (the maximum number that could be accommodated) and was oversubscribed. The course material was delivered by staff from the ScotPHO collaboration, analysts from ISD Scotland, and staff from other parts of the NHS and Scottish Government. The presentations from each course session and other material are available on the Data User Course and Data Producer Course pages.
Although there are currently no plans to repeat this training course, ScotPHO would consider requests by individual NHS boards and other relevant organisations to provide bespoke short training courses for a fee.
