This section of the website gives an overview of the key national data schemes in Scotland used in public health intelligence, including:

Primary care data collected by Public Health Scotland (PHS).

Secondary care data collected by PHS, including: acute inpatients and day cases (SMR01); outpatient attendances (SMR00, ISD(S)1); average available staffed beds (ISD(S)1); mental health inpatients and day cases (SMR04); maternity inpatients and day cases (SMR02); and, cancer registrations (SMR06 and latterly SOCRATES).

For other specialised databases maintained by PHS (e.g. Scottish Drug Misuse Database, national dental inspection programme, national smoking cessation database), please refer to the 'Key data sources' page of the relevant website sections.
- Mortality data collected by National Records of Scotland.
