Multiple Sclerosis: rate of hospital stays with a main diagnosis of multiple sclerosis by NHS Board
Accurate figures on the number of cases of multiple sclerosis in Scotland at local level are not available. The chart below provides information on the rate of hospital stays with MS as the main diagnosis for the year 2021/22 by NHS Board of residence. The data was sourced from the Public Health Scotland Acute hospital activity and NHS beds information (annual) publication in Table 5 - diagnosis by NHS board of residence, September 2022.
The figure for NHS Shetland has been suppressed due to low numbers to protect patient confidentiality.
