National burden of disease and inequalities

SBOD have previously published national estimates of the disease burden for 2016 in Scotland, including an analysis of the health inequalities in this burden. Due to a change in in methodology, these estimates have now been updated and revised estimates for 2016, as well as annual national estimates of the disease burden from 2014 to 2019 are available in our data visualisation.

In addition, disease specific technical overviews which provided background information on the data and methodology used, noting any caveats with estimating the burden for the leading causes of disease burden in Scotland in 2016 can also be found in archive.
